Most people researching All-on-6 dental implants have the same questions: how does it work, how long does it take, and what happens if they have been told they do not have enough bone? This guide answers each of those questions based on how the procedure is actually performed at SameDay Dental Clinic in Dubai.
What is All-on-6
All-on-6 is a full-arch restoration that replaces an entire row of missing or failing teeth using six dental implants. The implants are placed directly into the jawbone and act as permanent anchors for a fixed bridge of prosthetic teeth. Unlike dentures, which rest on the gums and can shift during eating or speaking, All-on-6 implants are fixed in place — they do not come out.
The "6" refers to the number of implants per arch. Six implants distribute bite force across more anchor points than four, which can provide additional stability and allows for a fuller prosthetic arch. Your oral surgeon will determine the right number of implants based on your bone structure, bite load, and the specific anatomy of your jaw.
Who it is designed for
All-on-6 is suitable for patients who have lost most or all of their teeth in one or both arches, have several failing teeth that require extraction, or are living with ill-fitting dentures that are affecting their quality of life.
It is also an option for patients who have been told they do not have enough bone for conventional implants. Bone loss does not automatically disqualify a patient. At SameDay Dental Clinic, patients with severe bone loss can still receive fixed implant-supported teeth through alternative implant techniques — including zygomatic implants, which anchor into the cheekbone when upper jaw bone is insufficient, and pterygoid implants, which engage the dense pterygoid bone at the back of the upper jaw. In some cases, a bone graft may be recommended, but it is not the only path forward.
SameDay Dental Clinic is the first and only certified ZAGA Center in the UAE and the GCC — a distinction that reflects specialist-level expertise in treating patients with complex bone anatomy.
What happens on the day
The SameDay unique protocol compresses what is traditionally a months-long process into a single appointment.
Your consultation begins with a comprehensive examination, including X-rays and a 3D CBCT scan. This allows the surgical team to map your bone structure in precise detail and design a treatment plan specific to your anatomy before a single incision is made.
On the day of surgery, any damaged or failing teeth are extracted. Six implants are then placed into the jawbone using CBCT-guided precision. Within four to six hours of that first appointment, a fixed full-arch set of temporary teeth is attached to the implants. You leave the clinic the same day with functional, fixed natural-looking teeth — not a denture, not a gap.
Seven days later, your permanent custom-made all-Zirconia teeth are fitted. The final restoration is designed and fabricated in SameDay's in-house dental lab by master ceramists, which means the fit, aesthetics, and occlusion are controlled entirely within the clinic.
Why the same-day protocol matters
Conventional implant treatment requires implants to be placed and then left unloaded for several months while osseointegration — the process by which the implant fuses with the jawbone — takes place. Patients are typically given removable dentures during this period.
SameDay Dental Clinic pioneered the same-day implant and teeth protocol in the Middle East. The technique relies on immediate loading — placing fixed temporary teeth on the implants on the same day as surgery, rather than waiting for full osseointegration. This is made possible by precise implant planning, surgical technique, and the clinical experience of a team that has placed implants in over 35,000 patients.
The clinic is the only dental practice in the Middle East to have been awarded the status of Brånemark Osseointegration Centre — one of only 23 such centers in the world — recognizing the level of specialization required to perform immediate-loading implant treatment at this standard.
What to expect after surgery
It is normal to experience some swelling and tenderness in the days following surgery. For the first two days, a soft food diet is recommended, with chewing on the non-surgical side where possible. Most patients return to normal eating once the temporary teeth are well-tolerated.
Gum tissue typically heals within six to eight weeks. The implants themselves continue integrating with the jawbone during this period. At the seven-day appointment, the surgical team will review healing and fit the final all-Zirconia teeth.
Long-term success depends on consistent oral hygiene and regular professional maintenance. The implants are designed to be permanent. The prosthetic teeth may require replacement after many years of normal use.
