An interview with Co-Founders Dr. Costa Nicolopoulos and Dr. Petros Yuvanoglu

It started with a Formula 1 race.

In 2009, Dr. Costa Nicolopoulos and Dr. Petros Yuvanoglu traveled to Abu Dhabi for the inaugural Formula 1 Grand Prix — a trip that was never meant to change the course of their careers. But when they arrived in the UAE, what they saw in Dubai stopped them in their tracks.

"People in Dubai are actually people that are go-getters and they're busy. They don't have time to waste," said Dr. Costa Nicolopoulos, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon and Co-Founder of SameDay Dental Clinic.

A city of professionals and entrepreneurs who moved fast, worked hard, and had no patience for drawn-out medical processes. And yet, nowhere in Dubai could these patients get what Drs. Costa and Petros had already been doing since 1998: extractions, implants, and fixed teeth — all in a single day, all under one roof.

"When we came here in 2009, there was actually no place like ours where patients could get that treatment. And we realized that there is a big need for that treatment here in Dubai, and that's exactly what we did. And we've never looked back since," Dr. Costa added.

The gap was obvious. The decision was immediate.

Dubai is not a city where people have months to spare. Patients here — whether local or expat, executive or entrepreneur — needed a solution that respected their time and their lifestyle. The traditional implant journey, which can stretch across a year with multiple surgeries, healing periods, and temporary dentures, simply did not fit.

What Drs. Costa and Petros brought to Dubai was a protocol they had spent years refining — one that had been running since long before they ever set foot in the UAE.

"That was something that we were doing since 1998," said Dr. Petros Yuvanoglu, Specialist Prosthodontist and Co-Founder of SameDay Dental Clinic.

The protocol is straightforward: remove the teeth that cannot be saved, place the dental implants, and fit fixed high-quality temporary teeth, all in the same appointment. Within seven days, patients return for their fixed permanent all-zirconia teeth.

"We provide them extractions, implants, and teeth all in the same day," Dr. Petros explained.

No gaps. No prolonged recovery. No moving between clinics or waiting on outside laboratories.

"Not only all in the same day, all under the same roof — because patients don't want to move around from point A to point B, loss of time, loss of earnings," Dr. Costa said.

Making same-day implants work consistently requires more than surgical skill. It requires an entire infrastructure designed around that single goal.

From the outset, SameDay invested in a CBCT scanner — specialized imaging technology that maps a patient's bone in three dimensions, allowing the team to plan every implant placement with precision before a single incision is made. Equally critical was the decision to build an in-house dental laboratory, staffed by dental technicians working on site. When the lab is steps away from the surgical suite, the time between implant placement and fitting a patient's fixed teeth is measured in hours, not weeks.

Today, that lab is fully digital. Scanning, printing, and milling have replaced the analog workflows of the early years — but the philosophy has never changed.

"No cost cutting when it comes to materials. If you want to give the best treatment, you've got to use the best materials and not save money on that," Dr. Petros said.

The best treatment requires the best materials, and that standard has been non-negotiable since day one.

As the clinic grew, so did its international standing. SameDay Dental Clinic became the only ZAGA Center in the UAE and GCC — a designation awarded to a select group of clinics worldwide that meet the rigorous standards of the ZAGA Centers network for zygomatic implant surgery.
